STEVE Kean has urged his Blackburn Rovers players to ‘keep believing’ as he whisks them off to Dubai to prepare for the final Premier League push.

The Rovers boss admitted Saturday’s disappointing goalless draw with Newcastle was full of nerves as they were out played and out thought for the majority.

Rovers will arrive in Dubai today for a few days of rest, recuperation and warm weather training with Kean hoping the break will help them stay away from the top flight drop zone.

It is a tactic that proved effective for former boss Sam Allardyce over the past couple of seasons and Kean believes the trip could spark them back into form after three defeats and a draw in their last four games.

Kean said: “I think a reason for that performance could probably because we have lost a few on the bounce.

"What happens is there is an edginess about the team when we had possession.

“Maybe we have lost a little bit of confidence to keep hold of the ball.

"We have to keep believing in ourselves though and have faith in our ability.

“We are going to take the lads away and try and get some warm weather training into them.

"Hopefully all the niggles and injuries can clear up and we can come back for the Villa game bright and breezy.

“We have done it the last couple of years and any time we have done that there has been a big response, a spark, a number of points added to the board.

"Hopefully they can energise themselves and kick on.”

New signings Mauro Formica and Ruben Rochina will be on the plane as they continue their settling in period, as will Gael Givet and Phil Jones as they continue their recoveries from injury.

Roque Santa Cruz and Junior Hoilett were withdrawn at half time on Saturday with a hip and hamstring injury respectively but neither are thought to be serious and should travel.
