WATFORD manager Malky Mackay is hoping to wreck Burnley’s afternoon at Vicarage Road – after insisting his side were unlucky not to take share of the spoils at Turf Moor earlier this season.
The Clarets came back from behind to beat the Hornets 3-2 on November 13, with Graham Alexander scoring the winner from the penalty spot after Jay Rodriguez was fouled by Martin Taylor.
It was a result that Mackay felt was unjust.
“I thought we played very well that day,” said the Scotsman, who was among those believed tobe in the running to replace former Clarets boss Brian Laws.
“I spoke to Russ Wilcox recently, who was Brian Laws' assistant at the time, as he came down and spent a day with us.
“He said they were very impressed with us and the way we played that day.
“He felt they were a little bit fortunate that day with the penalty situation with Martin Taylor.
“Again, it’s a measure of where we've come from that we can go to a top team and press them and go looking for a result.”
