JOHN Coleman has insisted that Accrington Stanley must shake off an unwanted record of having drawn the most games in all four divisions if they are to make the play-offs.

Stanley have slipped two places to 17th in League Two over the past week despite a creditable result on Saturday as they came from 2-0 down with three minutes left to claim a point at Stevenage.

The Reds have now drawn 12 and won just seven of their 26 league games so far during the current campaign.

No side across the country has drawn more – with only Premier League trio Fulham, Everton and Birmingham as well as Championship pair Reading and Hull having also drawn 12.

Coleman still has his sights on the play-offs, with Stanley 11 points behind but with games in hand, but believes his side need to win around half of their remaining 20 games.

“It’s up to us to turn these draws into wins, I think that’s 12 draws now,” he said.

“If we can turn half of them into wins we’ll be right in the mix.”
