BLACKBURN Rovers have been made to pay for numerous wasted chances after going in 1-1 with Wigan at half time this afternoon.

Jason Roberts poked Rovers ahead on 23 minutes to give the visitors a deserved lead but James McCarthy's35th strike levelled the clash.

Benjani, Morten Gamst Pedersen and Jermaine Jones all missed chances as Rovers controlled the half, in front of a vocal away following.

Roberts' goal rounded off a smart move involving the lively Junior Hoilett, with the striker on hand to convert Brett Emerton's low cross.

Wigan barely threatened but drew level after Robinson parried Emerson Boyce's low striker and McCarthy was able to prod home the rebound.
