BURNLEY restarted their season in blistering form with an 11-try romp against Ashton Under Lyme.
Coach Getty Schinkel called on his players to find their killer instinct in the second half of the season and his players responded.
However the South Africa still admitted his team could have scored a lot more had they taking their chances.
“We ran some beautiful angles and ran some wonderful lines but we still could have scored more,” said Schinkel despite seeing his side record the best result in his five years at the club. “We took our foot off the gas, got greedy and got lazy.
“I have said we need to turn the screw against the lesser teams and we certainly did that in the first half but let up a bit after the break.”
Fly half Simon Finnan, centre ‘Garfield’ Botha and James White – playing his first game at hooker – all scored two tries with prop Phil Thornton, full back Alex Menderos, flanker Steve Kemp, winger Theo Coleman and scrum half all getting in on the try scoring act.
Griffiths also kicked seven of the 11 conversions.
Burnley now go to Birchfield on Saturday where there is a bit of bad blood between the teams.
“There is a bit of bad blood between the sides following an incident a few years ago.
“But we will be ready for a tough encounter.”
