PLAYER coach Tim Fourie scored two tries at Rossendale battled back to beat Waterloo in a double header.

Due to a backlog of fixtures, double points were up for grabs and they appeared to be heading to Waterloo as they raced to a 13-0 lead.

The home side started brightly in both attack and defence and two quick penalites put them 6-0 up.

Waterloo, fighting for their lives at the bottom of the table, defending with heart and passion. Just when it looked certain Dale were going to score their first try, an interception saw the home side stretch their lead to 13-0.

But Dale’s forwards were beginning to get on top and following some powerful driving and quick ruck play, Tim Fourie sprinted over from 10 yards from an excellent pick up and go which fellow player/coach James Bramhall converted to make 13-7 at the break.

It was a different story in the second half as Dale piled on the pressure.

Two Bramhall kicks levelled the score before Fourie crossed for his second try after some more outstanding play from the backs and forwards.

Bramhall converted to make it 13-20.

That lead was further stretched when Dave Wood crossed for his first try of the season which Bramhall again converted. A late lapse gifted Waterloo and converted try.

“This was a job well done,” said Bramhall. “Sure, we all know we can play better and we have to with some big games coming up.

“But Waterloo didn’t let us play so we can be happy with our performance.”
