BLACKBURN won three successive matches for the first time in more than two years after battling against the wind and fighting off a late comeback.
A late Saints try put Burn under needless pressure after playing some fine rugby in the second half.
“We played really well in parts but gave away a silly try at the end which made the final three minutes pretty nervy,” said coach John Morgan.
“But it is another win for us, three on the run now, and that just helps to improve the boys confidence.
“We know we have to do better and if we are to get out of this division we have to start winning more games than just three together.
“I thought the lads were superb in the first half playing in to the wind then we had a 15 to 20 minute golden patch in the second half where we scored two tries which really set up the victory.”
Blackburn restricted their visitors to just one shot at goal in the opening period which was successful but just before the break, they hit back with a fine team try, winger Steve Bibby going over in the corner following nine phases of play.
St Benedicts then scored a converted try to go 10-5 up after Tom Marland had been sin-binned.
But the trusty boot of Paul Bleasdale cut the gap to 10-8 following a penalty before excellent tries from hooker and captain Paul Millea and centre Craig Diggle - both converted by Bleasdale - but Blackburn firmly in control.
In the closing stages, they chased the bonus point when perhaps it would have been better to keep things tight and they paid the price with an interception try under the posts.
But with three minutes remaining, Blackburn managed to protect their five point advantage.
