ACCRINGTON Stanley boss John Coleman has warned that the Reds will be relegated this season if they do not improve their defensive record – and he could lose out to Morecambe in the race to sign former loan centre back Kieran Charnock.
Stanley are 18th in League Two after crashing to a 5-2 loss at leaders Chesterfield on Tuesday to make it 24 goals conceded in their last eight games.
The Reds are now looking at the possibility of signing a loan defender before Saturday’s FA Cup first round tie at home to Oldham, but they do not have the funds to bring players in unless they let others leave.
“If we concede goals the way we’re conceding them at this moment, we’ll go down,” warned Coleman.
“It’s my job to respond and maybe do a bit of wheeling and dealing.”
