A FRUSTRATED Chris Samba admits questions need to be answered after Blackburn Rovers continued to be the Premier League’s Jekyll and Hyde with defeat in the Potteries.
Former Rovers youngster Jon Walters’ 48th minute winner turned Saturday’s clash on its head as Rovers again saw a dominant first-half display be for nothing.
Stoke then dominated a dire second half leaving skipper Samba fed up with seeing his side continue to waste all their early good work.
While Sam Allardyce’s men would be near the top of the Premier League going on first half performances, their second half displays would leave them rock bottom.
Samba said: “I don’t want to see it like we go bad in the second half, I don’t want to see it like that.
"I don’t understand though because at the moment we seem to keep giving a goal away in the first 15 minutes of the second half.
“At the end of the day we have to give ourselves questions and see if we are coming into the second half in the right frame of mind.
“We are starting the second half by giving away a cheap free kick and it just went on and on until the goal.
"It is really disappointing because our strong point is the defence.
“We are tough in the defence but that was such a cheap goal.
"A draw would be deserved but we got punished because that was their only real clear chance. There was nothing really in the game.”
Having seen Brett Emerton and Phil Jones go close in the opening 45 minutes, Rovers were stunned as Walters was allowed to ghost in to chip home an avoidable opener.
From there, there only ever looked to be one winner as Rovers were never able to recover from such an early second half set back.
Samba said: “It was a very tight game to play. It always is at Stoke.
"We are both known for our physical capacity and I think we started well.
“In the first half we played some good football at times and really looked comfortable. Up to half-time it was a good performance.
“But in the second half we conceded a cheap goal and it was difficult.
"It is very annoying because we have been playing so long in this league.
“We know how quick things can change if you get your placement wrong or lack communication for a minute. We could have avoided that.”
