ACCRINGTON Stanley's hopes of ending a 49-year wait to beat Stockport County disappeared last night in an enthralling battle at Edgeley Park.
The Reds looked to have hit back from Saturday's disappointing defeat at Port Vale in winning style, when goals from Andy Procter and Terry Gornell gave them a richly deserved two-goal cushion with 15 minutes left.
But County rallied in the closing stages to steal a point and leave Stanley chasing that elusive away league victory outside the Crown Ground.
Both clubs were keen to rid a particular monkey off their backs. Stockport are without a home win since February 27, while not since March have Stanley took three points on the road.
In the end, those runs will continue after an action-packed clash.
