MAGNUS Eikrem's 94th minute equaliser earned Manchester United reserves a point against Blackburn Rovers.

Junior Hoilett had looked to have inspired Blackburn Rovers reserves to a 2-1 win over Manchester United's second string at Leigh, before United struck.

The young Canadian created Jason Roberts' equaliser, after Robert Brady had given the visitors a half time lead from the penalty spot, before converting a penalty after being fouled.

Frank Fielding kept Rovers reserves in the game in the opening half as they went in at the break trailing 1-0.

The England under 21 goalkeeper was in fine form, pulling off three smart saves in the space of two minutes, but was unable to save Robert Brady's 34th minute penalty.

United's second string were dominant for the majority, but Junior Hoilett did see a goal-bound shot deflected wide after beating two men on the left flank.

Keith Andrews also went close, firing straight at goalkeeper Conor Devlin after a driving run into the penalty area.

Rovers looked a lot brighter after the break and almost levelled on 54 when Roberts' shot was fumbled by Devlin but the stopper held it at the second attempt.

Aaron Doran then saw a curling effort go inches over before Roberts equalised on the hour mark.

Josh Morris made progress through the middle before feeding Hoilett, who had dropped deep to collect the ball.

His cleverly disguised pass put Roberts clean through on goal and he made no mistake, calmly slotting home from close range.

Hoilett was again United's tormentor 13 minutes later as he raced on to Fielding's long clearance, touched the ball past Devlin, before being downed for a penalty. The Canadian dusted himself down to slot the penaltyh home himself to give Rovers the lead.

Fielding had the last word though as he bravely dived at Gabriel Obertan's feet to deny the striker what looked a certain last-gasp equaliser, but Eikrem broke hearts in the dying seconds.
