KEITH Millen has labelled Chris Iwelumo as tomorrow’s ‘danger’ as the Clarets powerhouse striker goes up against his former employers.
The Bristol City manager knows his Robins side must stop the Burnley frontman adding to his season’s five-goal haul when the two sides go face to face at Turf Moor.
Iwelumo enjoyed a short loan spell at Ashton Gate last winter, scoring two goals in seven appearances, and is already making his presence felt for the Clarets following his £500,000 summer move from Wolves.
“He’s going to be a danger, for sure,” admitted Millen, who has spent the past few days working closely with his defenders on the training ground.
“Big Chris did really well for us when he was here last season and we were grateful to him.
“But now we have to find a way to keep him quiet and we know what we are up against.
“He is a good target man, one who knows how to play the role, and he is a real handful. Chris is very experienced, extremely strong and a threat in the air.
“Although Burnley are a footballing side and like to knock the ball about, they have the option to play another way with the big man up front and we can expect a lot of balls to come into our penalty area.”
He added: “You cannot allow a player like Chris to pin you or to use his strength to hold you down. Once that happens and he is able to roll you, it means trouble.
“As a defender, you have to be clever and mix things up. Big strikers like the centre-half to be up close so they can feel where they are.
"That’s why it’s important to drop off sometimes.”
