PAKISTAN star Saeed Anwar has been named as the new professional of Church CC.
The 31-year-old former Rishton paid man replaces Kiwi Luke Woodcock at West End for the 2011 season and big things are expected of the left-hand bat and orthordox spinner.
“Saeed has been one of the most consistent all round performers in local league cricket for a number of years and we feel he will make a big impact both on and off the field,” said Church skipper Andrew Bentley.
“With him as professional Church will, hopefully, be in a position to challenge for honours.
"He has also asked to be involved at all levels of junior coaching and is especially keen to assist our youth players in making the transition into the senior teams.”
At Rishton in 2007 and 2008 Anwar made a total of 2933 runs and 156 wickets.
