CHRIS Eagles rattled the crossbar, but that's the closest Burnley have come to scoring in a goalless first half.
Crystal Palace, fresh from a 4-1 home win over Portsmouth in midweek, have edged the chances, but Brian Jensen has been a match for the few that have been on target, the pick of his saves denying Andrew Dorman's firm 22-yard drive.
The Clarets have been more measured in their approach play, but were forced into a 21st minute change when Ross Wallace limped off with what appeared to be a groin injury.
The Scot was replaced by Jay Rodriguez, who gave the Palace defence plenty to think about with his presence in the box, particularly at set pieces.
The Burnley-born striker almost broke the deadlock in first-half stoppage time with a well-struck shot from just outside the box that Julian Speroni pushed around the post.
Eagles had earlier seen an excellent strike from distance bounce off the crossbar. Burnley kept the ball alive but his follow-up shot was comfortable for Speroni.
