Stock car star Glenn Lord bagged a hat-trick of trophies and points at Warton’s annual Championship Day.

The Great Harwood-based driver won the Marine Services Cup in fine style, racing from the back of the pack to snatch victory from points leader Stephen Hogarth.

His last-gasp lunge at Lord saw the pair inches from connecting, and in avoiding a collision the pair slid perilously close to the fence.

From there on, it was a drag race to line, with Lord’s number 80 car taking a well-earned win.

The former champion was also on the podium for the main championship race of the day, taking third place behind runner-up Dean Mason and winner Hogarth.

“We had a great day’s racing. Three trophies and 32 points towards the championship was very satisfying,” said Lord.

There are only three meetings left and the chase now switches to the ‘Gold’ roof for top points.

Hogarth has his sights set on the double, gold and silver in the same year, which is a rarity.

But he’s around 40 points clear, so all eyes are on the next meeting, The Rose of Lancashire Trophy, on September 26.
