BURNLEY hat-trick hero Chris Iwelumo came closest to breaking the deadlock at the Riverside - but was denied by the woodwork in a scrappy first half.
Iwelumo got on the end of a Ross Wallace cross inside the area but saw his header rebound back off the post on 41 minutes.
In truth that was the only decent effort as both sides cancelled each other out.
Burnley boss Brian Laws opted start with Jack Cork and Chris Eagles, replacing Dean Marney and Martin Paterson, and both players looked lively - but couldn't carve out any openings.
