IT has been a very sad week for all Stanley fans as we said goodbye to our friend Antony Cox on Friday.

I will never forget the line of cars bedecked with Stanley flags and scarves that followed the hearse to the crematorium.

The sight of so many of the Stanley family gathered to pay their respects will live long in the memory and serves to remind us of the tight bonds that keep our club firmly at the heart of all we do.

The long trip to Torquay has been a favourite weekender for many over the years and the Reds seem to enjoy playing in the warmer southern regions.

I must admit I was very happy with a point on Saturday as the Gulls are currently flying high in League Two after an impressive start to the season.

John Coleman said after the game that if we beat Lincoln on Friday night then the result against Torquay will be seen as a good point won.

But, if we fail to win, the result at Plainmoor will feel like two points lost.

I understand the point John is making.

With eight points from the first six games played and still yet to be beaten, we have had a great start to the season.

But if we can take four points from our next two games then it will be a fantastic run.

Friday night football is superb at Stanley with a cracking atmosphere guaranteed.

I know it’s not for everyone, with lots of people only happy when football is at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon, but if we can attract a few extra folk to the club it must be a winner.

Tonight we have a very important meeting about the future of the club with Ilyas Khan in the old St James School building on Cannon Street at 7.15pm. I urge all Stanley fans to try an attend.

Ilyas has stated on several occasions that he wants the community to run the club, so now is your chance to have your say on what should happen in the future.
