BLACKBURN’S hopes of clinching back-to-back vic-tories were blown away as Furness roared to a 17-0 lead within the opening nine minutes.

Despite enjoying the lion’s share of poss-ession, it was up an uphill struggle from there on in.

Midway through the first half Burn’s set piece took control which led to a try for the excellent Nick Rho-des.

Burn dominated for large periods after the break but could not find away throu-gh Furness’s stubborn def-ence.

The pressure finally led to a penalty, converted by Paul Bleasdale who had taken over as captain for the injured Paul Millea. Burn were in with a shout until the closing stages until Furness crossed for a late try.
