LOCAL pride and the lead of the Evo-Stik First Division North table are both at stake tonight as derby rivals Clitheroe and Chorley collide in a Shawbridge clash to savour.

The Blues are second in the table – just two points behind Garry Flitcroft’s Magpies, whose 100 per cent league record was ended by Saturday’s 0-0 draw with big spending AFC Fylde.

Clitheroe’s 4-1 thrashing of Harrogate Railway took them back up to second spot and sets up tonight’s derby as the pair clash.

There could be a start for new Magpies loan man Chris Simm, who has moved to Victory Park on a month’s loan from Southport.

The capture of Simm, who made his debut from the bench on Saturday, is a major coup for Chorley after the player had been subject of much interest from Morecambe and Bradford City.

And Flitcroft said: “I’m delighted to get Chris on board. With Jordan Stepien, Matt Jansen and Alex Porter still coming back from injuries it was important to bring someone in to help us out and Chris is the perfect man for the job.

“He’s very quick and has an eye for goal. He’s got a terrific track record at a higher level and I’m sure he will prove to be a great addition as we face an important run of games.”
