MATCHWINNER Jay Rodriguez said he was “chuffed” with his contribution in a pulsating derby with Preston North End.
The 21-year-old stepped off the bench to head in a shock winner, after Burnley trailed their rivals 3-1 with just seven minutes of normal time to go.
Chris Iwelumo began the fightback with his second of three goals in the 84th minute, before grabbing his first hat-trick in three years four minutes later.
Then Burnley-born Rodriguez completed an incredible comeback with a last-gasp header to keep the Clarets’ 100 per cent start at Turf Moor intact.
“Going 3-1 down you just have to keep on going and it’s a great game when you come out winning 4-3,” he said.
“We still had the belief which showed in the result at the end.
“I was chuffed to bits to get on and even more delighted to score.
“I couldn’t believe it. All I had to think about was getting a good connection and it went in, so brilliant.
“It kicks us on. To win our local derby is good for the club and the fans.
“All my mates were here and my family was watching so it was a big thing.
“We know how long the season is going to be and how much hard work we have got left, but it’s all positive now.”
