FIRED-up Rossendale United boss John Hughes will tell his Stags to go out and cause an FA Cup upset tomorrow – because it will only help the club in the long run.

Hughes says his Vodkat League Premier Division men will be ready for their Dark Lane date with Leigh Genesis and knows that the money on offer for a win can do much to boost his club.

“A lot of people in the area don’t realise that we are rebuilding here,” said Hughes.

“When I came in last year we had to rebuild and now because we were relegated and a lot of the players we brought in have moved on to higher levels we are rebuilding again.

“But we are going in the right direction and the lads are getting better by the game.”

The cash on offer for the FA Cup, even at these early stages of the competition, is vital to clubs at Vodkat League level and Hughes is aware of the incentive.

“The chairman is looking for us to win tomorrow,” smiled the Stags manager.

“It can set you up for the season, especially if you can win in this and the next round.

“But it will be a hard game for us. Leigh are am Evo-Stik League side and we watched them in the week and they have some good players in certain areas.

“They are strong in midfield and they have a bit of pace on the wing but we will be ready and up for it.”

Bacup Borough are another side looking for the boost of FA Cup cash and they face a testing battle at Evo-Stik First Division North outfit Bamber Bridge at Irongate.

Ramsbottom United are also on the road to Wembley - but they face a tough test against big spending Skelmersdale United at The Riverside.
