BURNLEY last night snubbed a late transfer deadline day bid for Andre Bikey from Turkish giants Galatasaray.
Sources close to the player revealed the Clarets would have stood to make a significant return on the £1million-plus spent on bringing him to Turf Moor from Reading just over 12 months ago.
Galatasaray tested the Clarets’ resolve with an out-of-the-blue offer that is understood to have exceeded £2m.
However, Cameroon international Bikey, who had a spell in central midfield last term, has excelled on his return to centre half this season.
And the decision not to cash in on the 25-year-old speaks volumes for Burnley’s ambitions of keeping a strong squad together to mount a promotion challenge.
