NIKOLA Kalinic has given Blackburn Rovers a deserved 1-0 half time lead at Ewood Park against Everton.
The Croatian striker reacted smartly to goalkeeper Tim Howard's inexplicable fumble on 14 minutes to turn the loose ball home from the edge of the area.
Rovers did all the early running and Martin Olsson should have put them ahead even earlier, but could only lob over after being put through on goal by Morten Gamst Pedersen.
David Dunn limped off on 10 minutes and, after Kalinic's goal, the game quietened down as Rovers held Everton fairly comfortably.
Steven Pienaar went close for Everton with a free kick that was deflected wide and a long range strike that was saved by Paul Robinson at the second attempt.
