ANDRANIK Teymourian has been invited to take his place on the plane for Blackburn Rovers’ tour to Australia as manager Sam Allardyce bids to resurrect his floundering career.

The Iranian midfielder has impressed in his week’s trial at Brockhall and has been given the opportunity to be part of Sam Allardyce’s 26-man squad who travel to Sydney this afternoon.

Sources close to the player revealed though no final decision would be made before talks with boss Sam Allardyce after last night’s 1-0 defeat at Huddersfield, after the Lancashire Telegraph had gone to press.

It is understood Teymourian, while desperate to earn a contract at Rovers, is reluctant to embark on a 10-day trip to Australia without seeking to know what Allardyce believes his future has in store for him.

With other options open to him - Championship outfit Sheffield United are believed to be interested in him - his representatives will be asking Allardyce his future plans for the player before accepting.

Should he accept though, he would get three more games to impress the Rovers coaching staff, starting with Sunday's clash against Scottish Premier League champions Rangers, before matches against Athens on Wednesday and hosts Sydney on Saturday.

There will be few surprises in today's travelling party, with Georgian international Zurab Khizanishvili being given a further sign he has no future at Ewood Park – by being left at home.

Allardyce said: “Ando has trained very well but that doesn't mean very much until he gets into game situations. It would be good if we could resurrect his career.

“He was very good at Southport but this proved to be more of a test.

"It was a hard test because people around him were the young players.

“It was hard to show his full talent but I think he showed enough to get him off to Australia and we will see where we go from there.

“I know what sort of player he was four years ago. I don't know why he has slipped back as far as he has but obviously his lack of football is his big problem.

"Can he overcome that lack of football and do enough in the time he is with us to secure a contract?”

Teymourian was signed by Allardyce for Bolton Wanderers back in 2006, where he spent two successful seasons - after an initial settling in period.

He was released two years later though, when he signed for Fulham but has endured something of a nightmare last two years.

An early knee injury did not help his cause and, after falling out with boss Roy Hodgson, was made a free agent this summer having made just one league appearance for the Cottagers.
