SO after years of rifts, disharmony and 'total football', Holland have turned boring in their quest to finally lift the ultimate prize.
It seems incredible to think that Holland have never won the World Cup, with players like Cruyff, Neeskens, Gullit and Van Basten gracing the shirt over the years.
Now though, the Netherlands have substituted flair and unpredictability for togetherness and getting the job done. It may win them the trophy but it certainly isn't the beautiful game.
Of course they have their share of stars. Arjen Robben's talent can't be argued against although he does have difficulty staying on his feet, while Wesley Sneijder has been brilliant.
But there is something that just doesn't sit right with them. I never thought I would say this but the only real worthy winners of South Africa 2010 is Germany.
They have played with style, no fear, a touch of arrogance and no shortage of brilliance - the saving grace of what has been a dire World Cup.
