WING wizard Ross Wallace is planning to fire the Clarets back into the Premier League this season – and dazzle Burnley fans in the process.

The 25-year-old Scotland international, who joined from Lancashire rivals Preston North End last Friday, is a previous Championship title winner with Sunderland.

He is now hungry for another tilt at the top-flight after swapping Deepdale for Turf Moor, and hopeful of making a real name for himself by supplying the strikers with his trusty left foot.

After becoming a fans’ favourite at Preston, Wallace is also keen to have Clarets supporters chanting his name from the terraces.

“I feel I’ve got a lot more to give and hopefully over the next few years I’ll be able to show Burnley fans that I’m a good footballer,” he said.

“I had a good relationship with the Preston fans and hopefully I can now strike up a good relationship with the Burnley fans.

“Hopefully, I can get off to a good start and show the fans what I can do early doors.

“The motivation for me and the rest of the lads is to get promoted into the Premier League. It will give the club a big lift, so I’m sure all the lads are itching to get out there.”

On completing his move from North End, Wallace was hailed as one of the best left-sided players in the Championship by Clarets boss Brian Laws.

And now the former Celtic youngster is hopeful of repaying the faith shown by Laws when the new season kicks off on August 7.

He added: “I take that as a bit of a compliment. These things don’t faze me. I just concentrate on playing.”
