LEADERS East Lancs chased down a big target to beat Colne at the batsman’s paradise that is Alexandra Meadows.
Matthew Wilson hit 83 and Jeff Ellis 76 as the visitors piled up 234-7 – and when East Lancs were 23-2, that seemed distant.
But Roelof Hugo was brilliant. The South African, paid man at Heyside, made 112 not out from 119 balls in a glorious knock.
John Turner also made 36 and veteran third team skipper Nick Westhead, playing his a first game in the first team since 1993, hit 33 as East Lancs got home with an over to spare.
