Rawtenstall and Bacup served up a corking Valley derby with Vinny Hanson’s men claiming the bragging rights.

Andrew Payne and Andy Clough ensured there was no World Cup hangover as they got Rawtenstall off to a fine start as they both made 54 and shared a 106-run stand.

But they collapsed to 128-6 as David Warren bowled superbly to claim a five-for. Rizwan Shafiq (39) and Matthew Barnes (37) got Rocky up to 220, while Paul Gallagher claimed five victims.

Gallagher then hit 44 and pro Michael Smith made a fine 72 and appeared to be leading Bacup home – but Keith Roscoe claimed 7-89 to win the game.
