THE college netball squad has gone from strength-to-strength after winning the league title.
Nelson and Colne showed their championship credentials early on after finishing as runners-up at the British Colleges Sport tournament.
The success gave the team confidence for campaign ahead which included some impressive wins, including a 60-31 thrashing of Lancaster and Morecambe College. After a tough season with only one defeat, the girls travelled to Wales to play three matches that would determine whether they would be champions or runners-up. First up was a double header against league leaders Yale. Nelson and Colne worked exceptionally hard and came out on top, winning 17-11 and 11-7 which was enough to clinch the title before beating Llandrilo 19-13 in their final game of the season.
The team, captained by Katie Taylor, included Annie Tavendale, Hannah Roberts, Jade Wyld, Ann-Marie Bentley, Shauna Mullins, Charlotte Durcan, Sarah Kelly, Sarah Wilkinson, Zinny Zaheer, Katie Pollard Emily Lee and Natalie Haythornthwaite who is also a key member of the England Under 19s squad.
