THE rain wrecked yesterday’s Lancashire League programme as the first washout of 2010 arrived in the middle of June.
Once the heavens opened at 2pm there was little chance of matches being finished, although they did all start.
And they will be replayed next Saturday as a rare reserve date comes into play.
The big match of the day actually got more play than the others as the storm clouds took a while to reach Ramsbottom.
The clash between Rammy and Haslingden, second and third in the table, suffered several delays and stoppages.
Rammy reached 135-7 in 32 overs with David Bell and captain Jon Fielding both unbeaten on 33 as Chris Read claimed 4-32.
Even when Haslingden couldn’t receive the minimum of 20 overs they indicated they would go for the full total.
But even that proved impossible.
Leaders East Lancs were one of the first to see the rain and were 51-1 against Colne when time was called.
But in-form Nelson were in some trouble at 84-5 against second from bottom Rishton when the rain came.
Bacup were 61-2 at Rawtenstall when the Rossendale Valley derby was off and Accrington were going along nicely at Lowerhouse.
Todmorden had reached 60-1 at Church and Burnley’s sometimes fragile batting was showing itself again at Enfield.
They were reeling at 36-5 when the rain came down to save them at Dill Hall Lane.
