COLNE have climbed into second place in the eight-team Pendle Junior Summer League after a storming day at Nelson.
The summer-long tournament is played as a six junior single stableford, with the best five cards taken from each team, and accumulated during eight matches over the season.
Nelson, Colne, Whalley, Burnley, Great Harwood, Gill, Stonyhurst Park and Marsden Park comprise the eight-team competition, which first started in 1988.
Nelson won last year’s event, but they stand in fourth overall after their second place showing on home soil last Friday.
Colne were the big winners on 202 points, and their total score of 362 puts them behind tournament leaders Stonyhurst, who are on 378.
The outstanding score of the round was 48 points from Colne’s Matt Langstroth.
Four other players, Colne duo Ross Nessbitt and Ellis Harker, along with Kieron Cunliffe of Whalley and Stonyhurst’s Peter Richardson, scored 42 points.
