STEVE Croft and Steve Aspin have won the Blackburn and Darwen Conservative Snooker League’s pairs final in a dramatic finish.

The Darwen Subscriptions pair beat Carl McDonald and Adrian Dugdale from Intack and Knuzden Conser-vative Club 2-1 - but only after a black ball finish in the final frame.

Held at Guide Conservative Club, the final threw up some excellent snooker.

Aspin adopted a safety game allowing Croft to do most of their scoring and they took the first frame thanks to a break of 33 from Croft. But it was all square after frame two with McDonald playing particularly well while Dugdale’s safety play keeping Croft at bay. This took it to a deciding third frame. Croft and Aspin took an early lead but Dugdale and McDonald pushed into the lead with just the colours left to pot. And they seemed odds on to win after McDonald potted an excellent blue and just needed to sink a straight pink to clinch the title. But he rattled the pocket with his shot to gift Aspin an easy pot on the pink and black to clinch victory.
