EDENFIELD Football Club has flourished from a team of juniors to senior league and cup winners.
The team, which was set up by Dave Warren, was orginally for his son David and his mates to play football.
Now, a decade on, the majority of that original team has just won the Accrington Combination Division One title.
The Rossendale team is now looking to step up to the next level.
“Most of these lads have been together since we formed the team,” said Warren. “Basically, they are all mates and it is great that they have stuck at it.
“When one of them leaves the team, we always try and get one of their mates to replace them so there is great camaraderie and team spirit within the camp.”
The team came through the junior ranks in the Bury and Radcliffe League, winning its fair share of silverware, before joining the senior ranks in the Accrington Combination - and more trophy glory. They won promotion at the first attempt and reached the Division One cup final the season after.
Last year, they won the cup and finished as league runners-up before lifting the title this time around.
“The lads have done really well in the Accrington Combination having won the cup last year and the Division One league title this season,” added Warren.
“We have really enjoyed playing in the Combination but hopefully we will get the opportunity to step up in to the East Lancs League next season. We are just waiting to see if our application is successful.”
The club’s aim is to get its own pitch but, for the moment, it is hoping to ground share with a club in the Rossendale area.
Anyone who would like to ground share should contact Dave Warren on 07540 852664.
