STEVEN Nzonzi capped a memorable debut season in the Premier League by scooping the Blackburn Rovers Player of the Year award.
The midfielder was presented with his trophy by manager Sam Allardyce, who brought the 21-year-old in from Amiens in the summer.
Young Swede Martin Olsson won the Peter White Trophy for his goal of the season against Aston Villa. Sports Editor Paul Plunkett presented the trophy – in honour of the former Blackburn Rovers writer at the Lancashire Telegraph.
Gael Givet got the loudest cheer of the night when he was voted Players’ Player of the Year, while Morten Pedersen was given a special achievement award.
