Blackburn Centurions took a grand total of 23 swimmers to this year's Lancashire County Championships held at the Manchester Aquatics Centre - the 2002 Commonwealth Games pool. With more swimmers competing for the club than previous years the team did incredibly well bringing back a total of 23 medals.
Over the two weekends it saw swimmers achieve personal best times in the majority of their races paying tribute to the hard work that the swimmers have put into their training this year. The medal winners were: Jessica Hargreaves, nine, 50m breaststroke 2nd; Josh Lambert, 10, 50m butterfly 1st; Robert Hamer, 11, 200m butterfly 1st ( first National Qualifying Time); Katie Gaffing, 12, 50, butterfly 3rd, 200, butterfly - 2nd, 1500m butterfly 2nd, 800, freestyle 2nd; Keiran Atkinson, 13, 1500m freestyle 2nd, 800m freestyle 2nd, Ellie Glynn, 14, 1500m freestyle 2nd, 800m freestyle 2nd; Max Butler, 14, 400m butterfly 3rd, 400m IM 2nd; Rebecca Swales, 14, 400m freestyle 2nd, 100m breaststroke 3rd;Megan Davies, 14, 100m butterfly 1st; Mattie Hargreaves, 16, 200m butterfly 3rd, 400IM 2nd, 1500m freestyle 2nd, 800m freestyle 2nd; Open age group: Ben Edwards, 50m breaststroke 1st, 100m breaststroke 1st, 200m breaststroke 1st.
