COACH Getty Schinkel was ‘100 per cent satisfied’ as Burnley won away for the first time this season.

The South African saw his side produce a near perfect performance - something he has been striving to achieve all season.

Although Burnley are relegated, Schinkel said his side can hold their heads up high - and they have the chance of another prize scalp when they host second placed Kirkby Lonsdale in the last game of the season on Saturday.

“When we won earlier in the season I wasn’t happy because we made too many mistakes,” said the player/coach. “But I was 100 per cent satisfied with this display.

“Every-thing we have strived to achieve happened on the pitch on Saturday and the boys were awesome.”

A try from outside centre Phil Hesketh (above) and a drop goal from Nick Ralph put Burnley 8-0 but St Benedict’s, in sixth place in North Lancs/Cumbria, hit back with two tries and two penalties to lead 16-8 at the break.

Burnley regrouped in the second half and hit back with tries from outside half Ralph before prop and captain Nino Angelone burrowed over after some good sustained forward play.

“What impressed me most was that we didn’t fly and flap at the beginning but played at a good tempo and never let them bully us.

“It was a great comeback and a great win.”

Schinkel is now hoping his side can sign off in style with a win against Kirkb who beat leaders Wigton on Saturday.

“They battered us 80-10 earlier in the season so we will be looking for a bit of redemption.

“If they boys play like they did on Saturday then they could do it.”
