I THINK Burnley might still need three wins from their last four games if they are going to survive.
Hopefully the confidence should be high now after that 4-1 win at Hull on Saturday.
When we went 1-0 down in the first couple of minutes I must admit I thought, ‘Here we go again’.
But I think the players did respond after the Manchester City defeat because it was an all-round team performance.
No-one like to be hammered, so they wanted to go and prove people wrong.
We came from behind to win and they were two great penalties from Graham Alexander.
I’m told we have now avoided the Premier League record for the lowest points tally away from home, which is something the players will be pleased about.
It is still going to be tough to stay up, though, and I think we might need three wins.
Possibly two wins and a draw might be enough, although that would depend on other teams.
But they’ve got nothing to lose now they’ve just got to go out and try to win games.
I just hope they can take it to that last game at home to Tottenham and it’s not done and dusted by then, because if it goes to that last game that will be a big, big game.
It will be one atmosphere and a half at Turf Moor.
If we could get a draw at Sunderland on Saturday that would be a good result, but having said that we need wins now.
We know we can’t afford to lose another game because that could be curtains.
Looking at the four games we have left, it will be difficult at Sunderland and Birmingham, who have had a good season, We did beat them earlier in the season, but they went on a good run straight after that.
Our two home games are against Liverpool and Tottenham, but we’ve done okay against the big teams this season.
We were in it until late on against Chelsea, we drew against Arsenal and we beat Manchester United and Everton - although that was early in the season and maybe they weren’t up and running.
I think the Liverpool game is one we could maybe get something from, but Tottenham will be hard.
As for Saturday, Darren Bent will be a big danger but we defended quite well at Hull and I don’t think they created much.
I think Brian Laws will stick with the same team that played against Hull but they have got a bit of strength in depth and maybe we might see Kevin McDonald from the bench at some point.
After the publicity he’s had, he will want to go out there and do well.
Sunderland have a good home record this season, but then again so did Hull and we went there and won.
