NO fewer than seven Lancashire League sides are through to the quarter finals of the Inter League Challenge Trophy on another rain affected day.
Holders Littleborough are the only Central Lancashire League side to survive by virtue of a 3-1 win in a bowl out at Bacup after rain prevented any play.
Two other matches went to bowl outs with the match at Enfield finishing with a sudden death ending after three players from each side had hit the wickets. Rawtenstall professional Allan Wise and his counterpart Alviro Petersen both struck for a second time to put the pressure on David Bracewell. The Enfield skipper proved up to the task, but veteran Keith Roscoe failed to repeat his earlier hit to hand victory to Enfield, who remain unbeaten in three competitions.
Haslingden also triumphed 2-0 at Unsworth in a bowl out.
East Lancs gained revenge for Sunday's defeat at Centre Vale, handing Todmorden a seven-wicket defeat at Alexandra Meadows.
Professional Mark Orchard was the architect of East Lancs second win of the season, dismissing his opposite number Morne van Wyk without scoring, just a day after the South African's unbeaten 145.
Orchard then hit an unbeaten 60 to book a quarter final slot for the 2004 winners, who included four Turner brothers, skipper Paul, John, David and Phillip in the side for the first time.
In the other all Lancashire League clash, Burnley repeated Saturday's six-wicket Worsley Cup win over Accrington at Turf Moor.
Accrington were 34-2 when rain chopped 15 overs from their innings, leaving just six overs left to bat when play resumed. Skipper Matt Wilson hit an unbeaten 26 and professional Nishit Shetty made 24 as 50 runs came from the final 36 deliveries. David Ormerod took 4-52, but Burnley's batsmen held the upper hand, getting home with five balls remaining.
Sunil Joshi added an unbeaten 24 to his bowling figures of 3-12 in Ramsbottom's seven-wicket home win over Monton and Weaste.
Robin Peterson made it a dozen victims in two days with a match winning spell of 5-39 at Clifton. The home side made 139-8 but rain reduced Nelson's target to 128 from 34 overs. Peterson made 40, but his dismissal sparked a collapse that left skipper Mike Bradley (35) and Danny Kegg (21) the task of securing a four-wicket win.
Last men Barry Shorrock and Ryan North were the heroes as Church beat Werneth by one wicket. Chasing a reduced total of 112, sub professional Steve Dearden top scored with a rapid 41, but Darren Shadford took four wickets to give the West Enders the jitters that left the last pair needing four for victory.
