RALLYMAN Steve Johnson has extended his lead in the ANWCC and SD34 Stage Championship after finishing second in class on the Lee Holland Memorial Stages.
Johnson, from Accrington, brought his Nissan Micra home in 22nd place for the second event running.
"We finished 22nd on last month's Procare Stages at the Three Sisters, so we were a bit surprised to do the same again at Anglesey last weekend!" said Steve, who was navigated by his daughter Heather.
"I didn't expect to be leading two championships at this stage of the season, especially as there's only a one-litre engine under the bonnet."
The Johnsons had an eventful time on the Lee Holland Memorial, a one-day single-venue rally organised by Pendle DMC, with problems on almost every stage.
Leading after stage two, they spun on stage three before losing time on the next test when they were baulked by a slower car.
They lost another 10 seconds on stage seven when they were baulked again, but a good run on stage nine saw them regain the class lead by two seconds - with their rivals just four seconds behind.
Mud on the very last test lost Johnson 13 seconds, slipping to second in the F1000 category.
l Overall victory went to Carwyn Ellis and Edgar Jones (Ford Escort Mk2) Other East Lancashire finishers included: 3: Craig Pennington/George Healey (Ford Escort Cosworth);15: Dave Blackburn/Stephen Coates (Datsun Violet); 34: Michael Judson/Derek Lewin (Vauxhall Astra); 44: David Barratt/Steve Butler (Nissan Micra) Class results: 1: Peter Jones/Stuart Harradine (Nissan Micra) 1hr :17m:47s 2: Steve Johnson/Heather Johnson (Nissan Micra) 1:17:50 3: Ken Rowlands/Michael Hughes (Nissan Micra) 1:17:50.
