BURNLEY Football Club have sold over 6600 season tickets for the coming season.
But the club are set to re-double their efforts with a new drive aimed at boosting numbers for the start of the new campaign.
Yesterday, the club had sold just over 6,600 season tickets - on a par with the same time last season.
And business was brisk yesterday on the first day of trading following the end of the discounted early bird period.
And the club are confident of at least matching last year's overall season ticket sale of 8,500.
Chief executive Dave Edmundson said: "We're about on a par with last season but we're trying to give people a nudge and encourage them to re-join us next season.
"At this stage it could be better, it could be worse but to have people at the games come the start of the season is the main thing.
"But you never know what can happen over the summer. If we can pick up a few new faces it might encourage people to renew their season tickets so we're quite pleased where we are at the moment.
"Obviously we would like to thank those supporters who have already shown their loyalty and a new drive will begin next week to further increase those sales and push us close to the 8,500 we sold last season.
"The manager, Steve Cotterill, needs to be able to rely on the same support as last season to maintain a competitive squad.
"I'm sure all our supporters will want to feel that they have helped our manager personally and there is still plenty of time to do this before the big kick-off in August."
Edmundson also revealed that the Clarets were £1.45million better off as a result of the early season ticket sales - money that will see the club through the fallow close season period.
But the Clarets are still waiting on a large chunk of the money which is being held back by credit card companies.
As 28 per cent of renewals were done by credit or debit card, this means the club won't receive the money straight away.
The money is witheld by credit card companies and drip-fed to the clubs pro-rata as they fulfil their fixtures through out the season.
