BURNLEY goal hero Andy Gray admitted his celebrations were a little rusty after ending a double drought in last night's thrilling 2-0 victory over Norwich.
Former Sunderland striker Gray scored his first goal since August on his home debut to end 513 minutes without a goal for the Clarets.
And after Steve Cotterill's side deservedly wrapped up their first win in seven games, manager and player were unanimous in their relief that the losing streak is finally over.
Gray, who opened his Burnley account with a classy first half strike before Graham Branch sealed victory with a second goal after the break, said: "I didn't know what to do when the ball went in because it's been that long!
"It was just very nice to score first, especially with the hard time Burnley have been having at the moment."
Delighted boss Cotterill added: "I took a lot of pleasure from Andy's goal because when you bring a striker in it's very important that he gets among the goals quickly.
"Andy's first touch is top drawer and what he produced last night you will see from him time and time again.
"I know Andy will get the headlines, but we are just pleased for everybody because it has been really tough on everybody at the club lately and hopefully that will get us on the way again."
Burnley rode an early Norwich storm before gaining revenge for their Carrow Road defeat in December.
The three points virtually assures the Clarets of Championship football next season after rocky spell that has seen them slide steadily down the league table.
But Cotterill was convinced that one goal was all that his battle-hardened players required for the confidence to come flooding back again.
"We've been thinking there was a win coming and we said in training that if we got the first goal, our football would come flowing back - and it did," he added.
"As soon as we scored it was as if we wondered what all the worry was about and it probably lifted a weight off everybody's shoulders.
"It has been really tough and until you are in that dressing room you don't know just how tough it has been, so it was really nice to go in there after the game and see so many smiling faces."
Cotterill added: "I think over the 90 minutes we deserved to win the game and I am really pleased.
"Last night was what Burnley is all about. The players and the crowd were as one and that is the way we have to be here.
"When the supporters are behind you, you know you have done well and I thought our supporters were different class last night - absolutely magnificent.
"In the end, they probably would have been singing here all night given the chance!"
