MARK Hughes insists Blackburn Rovers have learned their lesson as they face a potential banana skin' at Sunderland tomorrow.
Hughes knows the pitfalls of playing teams towards the bottom of the table after his team's dismal showing at West Bromwich Albion last month.
But he's determined not to become Sunderland's first victims as the Wearsiders look for their first scalp at the Stadium Of Light this season.
"What happened at West Brom won't happen again," said Hughes, reflecting on the 2-0 defeat at the Hawthorns.
"We went from a fantastic night of beating Manchester United on the Wednesday then very quickly we had to put our efforts into a game on the Saturday.
"The turnaround was too quick but we've learned from it and we can't afford for that to happen between now and the end of the season."
The Albion defeat reflects how shaky Rovers have been on the road recently, having come back from their last three Premiership trips pointless.
Hughes said: "Our away form hasn't reflected our home form so we know Sunderland is a potential banana skin.
"Everybody believes they will get a home win at some point so we have to guard against them getting three points against us."
