John Hartson has urged Wales manager John Toshack to bury the hatchet with Robbie Savage and end the Blackburn midfielder's international exile.
Hartson retired from international football last month and he has revealed the absence of his close friend Savage was a major factor in his decision to quit.
Toshack has been at loggerheads with Savage - and Manchester City's Ben Thatcher - ever since he succeeded Mark Hughes as the Wales manager, but Hartson believes he cannot afford to let personal differences come in the way of what is best for the nation.
The Celtic sriker said: "Toshack must bite the bullet and call them. They should be playing for Wales.
"It's ok to give the youngsters a chance but I don't think we have the quality in abundance to get anywhere.
"Things have been difficult for Toshack and I hope they get better, but I'm not sure they will. We've four or five good players - the rest make up the numbers."
