Steve Cotterill will meet chairman Barry Kilby again on Monday to resume talks over an extended contract for the Burnley boss.
Discussions have been ongoing since last November in a bid to tie Cotterill down to a new long-term deal.
Those talks intensified in the new year after Leicester City were refused permission to speak to Cotterill, whose current deal runs until the summer of 2007.
Kilby even made the long drive to meet his manager in a Brighton hotel on the day Cotterill finally eliminated himself from the race to become City's new manager.
However, the two parties have not yet reached an agreement and another meeting will now take place in the wake of today's Championship clash at Coventry City.
Kilby said: "I plan to meet Steve again on Monday, so I would hope we can progress things next week."
