BRETT Ormerod is hoping to cheer Accrington Stanley to the Football League.
After being released by Blackburn Rovers the striker relaunched his career with the Reds, scoring 28 goals in the 1996-97 season.
This led to a £50,000 transfer to Blackpool, where his goalscoring secured him a Premiership move to Southampton five years later.
Now, after completing his move back to Lancashire to join Preston last month, Ormerod intends to return to the Interlink to see Stanley achieve their dream of league football.
Ormerod said: "Whenever I've had the chance, I've gone along to watch them but being closer should make it easier to see them more often.
"I've always loved going on to see how they are doing and meet up with people.
"I will always be grateful for the chances I got at Accrington, they helped get my career off the ground.
"I'm lucky to have been able to score goals in every league, and the chances I got at Accrington helped with that.
"Hopefully they will go back into the Football League. It is what everyone there has been trying so long for.
"It's a great club, and to see them back in the league would be fantastic."
