FORMER Blackburn Rovers striker Matt Jansen has signed for Bolton and goes straight into the Trotters squad to face his old side today.
The 28-year-old hitman was released by Rovers on Wednesday but was sensationally snapped up by Sam Allardyce yesterday afternoon on a deal until the end of the season.
Jansen failed to recover sufficiently from a motorbike accident in 2002 and was allowed to leave Ewood this week after finding himself well down Mark Hughes' pecking order.
He becomes manager Allardyce's second signing of the transfer window after the capture of Oman goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi.
Allardyce said: "Matt has great potential. Even though he hasn't been involved with Blackburn of late, I do believe he has the right qualities to resurrect his career at the Reebok.
"I am looking forward to working with him between now and the end of the season and I hope he can recapture the form that made him one of England's best strikers a couple of seasons ago."
Jansen made 182 appearances for Rovers over a seven-year period and scored 57 goals in all competitions.
