ADE Akinbiyi is raring to go again after Burnley's hectic Christmas schedule almost wore him out.

The 14-goal top scorer admits he was feeling the effects of four games in eight games during the second half of the Clarets' 1-1 draw at Queens Park Rangers on Monday.

But it wasn't just the festive fixtures that left Akinbiyi feeling leg-weary, it was the entire first half of the season because he's not used to playing in every game.

Now he hopes the break he's had since has re-charged the batteries for Saturday's FA Cup third round tie at Derby County "It's been a brilliant year but the only downside is in the last three or four games I've been a little bit tired," said Akinbiyi.

"I've not missed a game this season and that's the most I've played in my professional career, because I'm normally injured or suspended.

"So obviously I'm delighted with that but I have been. But I've had three days to recover and get back to form."

Akinbiyi's fatigue was evident in the first half miss that would have given Burnley a 2-0 lead and put them in the perfect position to net three points.

But with the goal at his mercy the 31-year-od lacked his usual sharpness and Simon Royce made a save that ultimately helped his side snatch a point.

"It was a great cross that Wade (Elliott) put in for me but unfortunately the keeper made a good save," said Akinbiyi. "I wouldn't say it was a miss because I hit the target but the keeper made a good save.

"Maybe I should have gone to the other side, but he managed to get across quicker than I thought he would and there was nothing I could do. But I just have to forget about it."

Akinbiyi also has a message for the boo-boys that have been taunting him - don't stop!

He was jeered throughout the game at Loftus Road, which isn't the first occasion he has been subjected to away fans' abuse this season.

But Akinbiyi said: "Jon Harley was asking me why they were giving me stick and I said it was from when we played them at Stoke.

"But they must have noticed I've been doing well and decided to boo me. I hope people can carry on with that because every time they do it that it brings out the best in me so they can keep on doing it."
