MORTEN Gamst Pedersen today poured cold water on speculation linking him with a January move to Tottenham Hotspur by insisting I want to win something with Blackburn Rovers'.
The Norwegian international, who has been in sparkling form over the festive period, is reported to be a top transfer target for ambitious Spurs boss Martin Jol.
However, the 24-year-old has told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph that he's happy with life at Rovers and he insists he would love nothing more than to help win a trophy for the club that gave him his big break in the Premiership.
"There will always be speculation in football but I'm happy at Blackburn, I'm doing well here, I'm enjoying it, I've made a lot of friends, and I'm playing for a manager who believes in me," said Pedersen.
"The team are doing well, we are up to eighth in the league now, and we still believe we can climb even further up the table.
"It would be great if I could win something with Blackburn. That's what you want to do in football.
"We are in the semi-finals of the Carling Cup and the FA Cup starts on Saturday, so we've got a lot to play for at the moment and it's really good to be here."
Pedersen admitted he was surprised to read speculation linking him with a move to White Hart Lane, even though he has set the Premiership alight over the last 12 months, scoring 10 goals in his last 35 league appearances for Rovers.
The former Tromso star has not heard anything official in regard to interest from the Londoners and he is totally focused on becoming an even more influential for Blackburn during the second half of the season.
"I only know what I've read in the papers, but I haven't heard anything from anyone," said Pedersen.
"I just want to try to be a better player. I know I can play even better for Blackburn. I work hard every day in training and we've got a great manager and a good squad, so I'm enjoying it."
Pedersen underlined his true value to Rovers over Christmas and the New Year by scoring spectacular goals in the back-to-back wins over Wigan and Portsmouth.
Now the Norwegian hopes to keep that run of form going through January, when Rovers will chase honours on three fronts, starting with Saturday's FA Cup tie with QPR.
"We've got a hard month ahead but I'm looking forward to it," added Pedersen.
"We're playing with confidence at the moment but football is football and you don't get easy games, even when you are playing a team that is one step down from you like QPR.
"Everyone can beat you on their day so you have to keep the same levels and work hard. We want to do well in every game we play.
"We've got a couple of days to rest and recharge our batteries, then we've got to be ready to go again on Saturday."
