COLNE and Nelson suffered a last-move-of-the-match defeat at high-flying Newton le Willows when it appeared a famous victory was on the cards.
Colne battled back from 27-0 down to lead 31-27 going in to final minute only for Newton to cross for a last-gasp try.
Newton appeared to be on course for a routine victory as they raced to a 27-0 lead in no time at all.
But two tries from Andrew Grindrod, one from Calllum Kinnane, plus 13 points from the boot of Aaron Denton put Colne in full control.
However, Newton broke Colne hearts with a try in the last minute.
