Rossendale's Kristan Bromley missed out on the medals, finishing sixth in the men's skeleton in Vancouver today.
The Waterfoot Olympian - nicknamed Dr Ice - had his two quickest slides but could not improve from his overnight position.
"It's been just a little bit frustrating because I know I was getting there," Bromley said.
"That last run had a few mistakes but I know I was on my way had I had a bit more time on the ice.
"But this Games has taught me two things. Firstly I couldn't compete with Dukurs or Tretyakov with regard to their starts, in that respect they are phenomenal.
"And I just couldn't compete with the Canadians as a result of how much time they had on the ice."
Canada's Jon Montgomery produced a stunning final slide to win.
Montgomery was second behind Dukurs after each of the first three runs, but his 52.36-second final run, saw him eclipse the Latvian by 0.07 seconds.
Russia's Alexander Tretiakov was one second back in bronze.
